Sevilla Euro boost with La Real win

Sevilla defeated Real Sociedad to secure their first victory since March and revive their hopes of Europa League qualification.

Ever Banega’s penalty two minutes after half-time was the difference between the two sides and got interim Coach Joaquin Caparros off to a winning start.

Sandro Ramirez, on loan from Everton, was felled by La Real defender Diego Llorente in the penalty area to allow the Argentine midfielder to step up and net from the spot.

Asier Illarramendi fired wired for the visitors soon after before Sandro, still without a goal since his January switch, came close at the other end.

La Real’s European hopes are now all but over as they sit five points off seventh with just two games to play.
