Seedorf hints at Depor exit

Clarence Seedorf has hinted that he will leave Deportivo La Coruna at the end of the season after their relegation. “I wish this club all the best.”

Seedorf failed to win any of his first eight games in charge of Depor, and despite a four-match unbeaten run temporarily injecting life into their survival bid, the Galicians’ demotion was confirmed after a 4-2 defeat to Barcelona, who were crowned Liga champions.

“We’re very sad about being relegated, but I want to thank everyone at the club, the fans and the players,” the former Real Madrid midfielder said after the game.

“I’ve found a very good team of workers. We didn’t meet our objective, but that’s football. As for my future, everything is open.

“I want us to finish the season well, with dignity, and keep working like we are. No doors are closed with regards to next season.

“I congratulate Barcelona, but I think Deportivo had a very good match. We gave a good account of ourselves.

“It’s not the first time that this has happened to Deportivo. We must bounce back, and I wish this club all the best.

“My players had a great game, and they should come out with their heads held high. There are other important things in life. You have to know how to win and know how to lose.”
