Diego Simeone has ruled out reports linking him with a move to Arsenal and stated he is ‘very happy’ at Atletico Madrid.
The Argentine not only ruled himself out of the running for the Emirates job but took time to speak of his ‘admiration’ for outgoing Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, whom he meets in the Europa League semi-final.
“The first thing I’d like to say is that I admire Arsene Wenger a lot,” Simeone told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“He is a great professional and he has had to reinvent himself so many times over the years to remain at a club of Arsenal’s stature.
“For a young Coach – which I still consider myself to be – he is a figure which to look up to, to respect and to admire.
“No I have not spoken with anyone at Arsenal regarding the position because I love it here at Atletico and I am very happy.”
