Marco Asensio believes Real Madrid ‘must play better’ in their Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich.
The winger scored in a 2-1 victory for Zinedine Zidane’s side at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday but the hosts spurned a host of opportunities.
“It was a real battle to secure this victory but we know we must play better at the Bernabeu,” Asensio told reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.
“We all knew this would be a game which would make us suffer but we managed to grind out a result and leave the stadium with a small advantage.
“We are all aware of how strong Bayern are and how they can dominate the game for long periods of times but we had to take advantage of our opportunites, and we did.
“My goal? I saw Lucas moving forward and made the run to allow him to pass to me and I knew how to score from that moment.”
