Lopez warns ‘Levante still not safe’

Levante Coach Paco Lopez insists his side ‘are not yet safe’ despite Monday’s victory over Athletic Bilbao taking them nine points clear of danger.

The tactician has guided his side to 16 points from seven matches in charge to give them a buffer zone to Deportivo and the relegation zone with four games remaining.

“Mathematically we are not yet safe so we cannot talk about this,” Lopez told reporters after Monday night’s match, as cited by Marca.

“When I arrived, the team needed confidence in order to be more daring so this run is about trust and we will look to continue this against Sevilla on Friday.

“This victory (against Athletic) was our best match, along with that against Girona and when the players have this level of commitment, it is much easier for the Coach.

“Perhaps luck exists but these results would not have happened without conviction, hard work and courage from the players.

“Enis Bardhi has lots of talent and he knows he has to improve in many aspects, he has something to prove and could be involved more when he does.”
