Alaves to sign €4m Guidetti

Alaves will make striker John Guidetti’s loan move from Celta Vigo permanent for a €4m deal at the end of the season, say reports in the Spanish press.

The Swedish international joined the Basque club on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign in January which Diario AS states a ‘compulsory purchase option’ was included should Alaves avoid relegation.

Abelardo Fernandez’s side won 4-0 at Las Palmas on Sunday and thus confirming their status in Spain’s top flight for next season.

Guidetti has only scored two goals in his 15 La Liga appearances – of which 14 have been starts – with the Vitoria-based side since his January switch.

The former Manchester City and Glasgow Celtic striker joined Celta on a free transfer in 2015 but became surplus to requirements at Estadio Balaidos.

Guidetti infamously missed a glorious opportunity to seal Celta’s place in last season’s Europa League final in the last minute of the semi-final against Manchester United.
