Marcelino: Valencia lack ‘clinical edge’

Marcelino admitted Valencia were lacking a ‘clinical edge’ after a third game without a win but backed them to secure Champions League football next week.

Santi Mina’s first goal in two months gave Valencia the lead against his former club, but Los Che must now beat Eibar to confirm their place in La Liga’s top four after Maxi Gomez equalised for Celta.

“When your opponents take their only chance and you’re only able to take one of yours, this is what happens,” the Coach said after the match.

“The same happened to us against Getafe. We had a very good game and only lacked a clinical edge in our finishing.

“I congratulated my players because they gave everything against a good team like Celta. We now have a week to rest and prepare well for the game against Eibar.

“Hopefully we can fulfil our dream of the Champions League in that game. Pereira and Vietto I like to involve all my players in this great season we’re having.

“They’ve only been given a few minutes, but they’ve trained well and their attitude has been one of utmost respect to their teammates.”
