Castro threatens Sevilla ‘action’

Sevilla President Jose Castro has warned that the club will ‘take action’ after their 5-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey Final.

Castro, Coach Vincenzo Montella and sporting director Oscar Arias quickly faced calls to resign after Saturday’s heavy defeat, while Steven N’Zonzi is set to be sanctioned by Sevilla, having partied the same evening.

“We were excited about the Final, but we didn’t measure up. The team didn’t the necessary intensity or accuracy,” he said after the game.

“Now the important thing is to have a cool head, take action and decide what’s best for the club. One of the bastions of our club, the fans, felt the blow.

“Sevilla have had a season of ups and downs. We did important things in the Champions League, but we can’t be happy. "

“We didn’t compete at Wanda Metropolitano. We can lose, but not like that. We’re all completely angry, me being the first, so I ask for forgiveness from the fans and now I’ll keep my head down.

“We must all be united as a unit to qualify for the Europa League. N’Zonzi? The club have behavioural rules in place and they’ll apply to him.

“It wasn’t the most appropriate thing to do on a day like yesterday.”
