Former Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano could leave China after just six months as he wants a return to River Plate, according to reports.
The 33-year-old joined Chinese Super League outfit Hebei China Fortune in January and while his deal runs until 2020, a clause exists that the contract can be terminated in 2019.
Diario Sport cites reports in the Argentine press that the converted central defender wishes to return to the Buenos Aires club.
Mascherano is set to feature for his nation in this summer’s World Cup.
