Zidane: Madrid lacked ‘fluidity’

Zinedine Zidane admits Real Madrid ‘lacked fluidity’ against Athletic Bilbao and asked his players to take some of the goalscoring burden off Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I’m not happy with the result, but I am with our performance, above all in the first half, because we had chances,” the Coach said after the 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

“At home and in La Liga, we’ve had lots of games like this one. Were the team tired? I don’t think so, but we lacked fluidity in our final pass.

“We got to their box often and were very focused against a team that defended well.

“Thinking about Bayern? Yes, this game is over and we have a week to prepare for the first leg.

“We’ll start thinking about Bayern on Saturday because we’ll rest tomorrow. Ronaldo scoring in 12 straight games? Yes, but everyone else has to be plugged in too.”
