Alcacer ‘ready’ for opportunities

Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer explained how he is always ‘ready’ to seize his opportunities within Ernesto Valverde’s first-team.

The former Valencia hitman was given a rare start in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo with the Spaniard netting the visitor’s second.

“I was ready to be selected and this has to be the case when you are in the squad,” Alcacer told reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.

“Everyone in the squad wants to play and of course I would like more minutes but I know my role and I have to be ready to take my opportunities, like tonight when I have given everything.

“We want to win the league as soon as possible and we are not too bothered if there is a defeat along the way, the key aspect of this is winning the league.

“The goal? I wanted to have the final touch as I was not sure if Paulinho was going to score or not and I wanted to make sure.”
