Denis: I’ll succeed at Barca

Denis Suarez has vowed to make his ‘dream’ of succeeding at Barcelona come true after his rare start at Celta Vigo.

Denis returned to his hometown club on Tuesday, completing the match as Barca left Celta with a 2-2 draw, and the midfielder made it clear his lack of game time would not deter him from becoming a Blaugrana mainstay.

“I never tire of repeating that I have a contract for two years. I want to succeed here and I will,” he said after the game.

“You always have to improve and learn from your mistakes. I’m going to fight so I can have more minutes, which isn’t easy.

“I try to always show things and that I deserve to play more. I like to get up the pitch and play the ball forward. That’s my game, giving my all and taking risks.

“My dream is to succeed at Barca. I also hope to go back to Vigo one day, although it’s too early for that.

“Winning La Liga unbeaten? It motivates us and excites us a lot. I don’t know if there’s a team in [Spanish] history that have won the League without losing, although we deserve an incredible amount of credit to be undefeated at this point.

“Would the double lose value if Real Madrid won the Champions League? No, they are different competitions and it’d be incredible if we did it.”
