‘Madrid must learn from this’ – Vallejo

Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo insists his side ‘must be happy’ to be in the semi-final draw but added they must ‘learn’ from their defeat to Juventus.

Zinedine Zidane’s side crashed to a 3-1 home defeat but Cristiano Ronaldo’s last-gasp penalty ensured they sealed their spot in the last four with a 4-3 aggregate victory.

“We have to learn from this experience but also we must be happy to be in the semi-finals,” Vallejo told Cadena Copa.

“I was neither happy nor unhappy with my own performance, it was a tough game and we suffered as a team.

“We now have to regain our focus and be totally prepared for our upcoming games, we must remain positive as we are now through another round.

“I have not yet seen the penalty, but Cristiano again stepped up and was decisive, as he always is.

“I hope Ramos is not sanctioned further (for being on the touchline and beyond the tunnel) because he is a very important player for us and he improves us.”
