Valverde: Finish line in sight…

Ernesto Valverde admits the finish line is in sight for Barcelona. “If we win five of the eight games we have left, we’ll be champions.”

Barca need only 15 points to wrestle the League title back from Real Madrid, and Valverde urged his side to take a step closer with victory over Leganes on Saturday evening.

“What matters is that we pick up the three points because we need 15 more to become champions,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“If we win five of the eight games we have left, we’ll be champions, and if we win tomorrow, we’ll have four [left to win].

“We don’t have to think about any other game, only the possibility of winning, which is what drives us on. Leganes are a team with a lot of enthusiasm, and they’ve had a good season.

Messi? He rested for a good part of the game against Sevilla, but he’s a player who needs to stay active in order to get better.

“I’m not worried about the general condition of the team, but it’s clear that a major muscle injury would rule any one out for the season. With that in mind, we have to be careful.

“Vermaelen? He’s reliable and he’s shown it. Pique? He’s in an extraordinary run of form.

“Roma? I liked what I saw, regardless of what’s been said. We created chances against them, but maybe our poor finishing clouded that a bit, even though that usually isn’t the case.

“We’re in the quarter-finals and any team can make life difficult for you at this stage.”
