N’Zonzi: Sevilla ran out of energy

Sevilla ‘ran out of energy’ in the second half of their tie against Bayern Munich, according to midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

Los Rojiblancos took the lead in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final tie but the German champions quickly equalised through a Jesus Navas own goal.

Vincenzo Montella’s side had conceded two late goals against Barcelona in a gruelling league encounter just three days previously.

“We ran out of energy in the second half and became tired,” N’Zonzi told BeIn Sports, as cited by Marca.

“We deserved to be in front but we regret not being further ahead through Sarabia, as it would have been merited.

“In the second half we began to tire and that made our plan more difficult as Bayern had a lot of possession and pushed hard for more goals.

“We played well but it was not enough and we know the second leg will be extremely tough, but in football you must always believe.

“We are a good team and we know we are capable of fantastic results.”
