Montella: Sevilla had no luck!

Vincenzo Montella has lamented his Sevilla side ‘not having any luck’ as they fell to defeat at home to Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Pablo Sarabia gave the home side the lead but an unfortunate Jesus Navas own goal levelled proceedings before Thiago Alcantara’s effort went-in via Sergio Escudero.

“We did not have any luck,” Montella bemoaned at his post-match press conference, as cited by Diario AS.

“I am grateful for my players in terms of the level of performance and energy they put in against such a high standard of opponent.

“I believe the team deserved more than a defeat but the first goal meant we lost all our momentum, but it did not demoralise us.

“In the second half they came into the game more and we lost our energy to utilise the counter-attack plan we had hoped for.

“Our chances of progression? Slim, but we will go to play with the same amount of passion, if not more.

“We need to keep believing and it’s ok to acknowledge the chances are not high, but we will have a game plan.”
