Getafe Coach Jose Bordalas quipped that ‘The Virgin appeared’ in front of Real Betis as they somehow clung on to three points on Monday.
Los Azulones had a goal disallowed, saw a penalty saved, a free-kick hit the post and run along the line, and a late header controversially adjudged to not have crossed the line.
“The Virgin appeared to Betis and they survived,” Bordalas said of Betis after the match, as cited by Marca.
“Today we dominated the game and created enough chances to win – we missed a penalty, hit the post, thought we had a goal, scored another that was disallowed.
“VAR? It was the same against us at San Mames earlier in the season with a good goal ruled out, we don’t think the current setup is fair.
“We are happy with our general direction and level of performance, I am convinced we will stay in the division this year, which was our objective.”
