Montella: Messi decisive for Barca

Sevilla Coach Vincenzo Montella believes old club Roma will have a game-plan to combat Barcelona but ‘it will be easier if Messi does not play’.

The Giallorossi face the Catalan giants in the Champions League quarter finals with their former Coach guiding Sevilla to a 2-2 draw against in La Liga on Saturday.

“Eusebio will know what to do, but it will be easier if Messi doesn’t play,” Montella told Fox Sport Italia.

“We lacked the determination to really finish them off and when Messi came on, he changed the game.

“I am irritated and disappointed, just like the players, because we put in such a great performance for 88 minutes.”

Sevilla were two minutes from inflicting Barca’s first league defeat of the season, but late goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi – a second half substitute – rescued a point.
