Ziganda: I won’t quit Athletic

Jose Angel Ziganda has asserted that he will not quit Athletic Bilbao, despite another poor result on Saturday against Celta Vigo.

Athletic Bilbao were frustrated by Brais Mendez’s last-gasp equaliser during their 1-1 draw with Celta, leaving them down in 12th place and with just one win in their last seven to pile even more pressure on Ziganda.

“It was our game for 80 minutes,” the Coach said after the game.

“Our effort was brutal, the team played with an identity and tried to do things. We had enough runs into their box to have scored a goal.

“In the last 10 minutes, however, we became very tired and had a hard time getting the ball forward. We suddenly couldn’t defend and could’ve ended up losing.

“My future? I don’t read or listen to what’s being said in the Press. I go to Lezama [Athletic’s training ground] and prepare for our games.

“Obviously things get to you and I’m aware of the situation I’m in, but I'm only going to prepare for everything that could come my way.

“No-one from the club has told me that I won’t stay on.”
