‘Valencia can touch fourth place’

Valencia boss Marcelino claims his side ‘can touch fourth place with our fingers’ after their 1-0 win at Leganes on Sunday.

Rodrigo’s 14th goal of the season not only fired Valencia to their fourth straight victory but also moved them 15 points clear of fifth-placed Sevilla with only eight games remaining.

“To pick up 62 points at this stage is within reach of only a few teams,” the Coach said after the game.

“We can touch fourth place with our fingers, but it’s not for certain yet. We can’t lose humility.

“Each win brings us closer to fourth place. It would be extraordinary [to finish fourth] after two years with bad dynamics.

“Rodrigo? He’s very good, it’s very easy to talk about him now… We knew he was a player with a lot of potential.

“If the team aren’t working and are less efficient, the strikers have less to offer.”
