‘Sevilla worried by Betis’ – Junior

Real Betis defender Junior Firpo believes his side are ‘so close’ to city rivals Sevilla that they are worried of a possible power shift.

The Dominican Republic full-back made his first team debut for Los Verdiblancos last month and has quickly established himself in Quique Setien’s side, ahead of Riza Durmisi.

“We are so close to them this year that they can now see the ears of the wolf,” Junior told Onda Cero.

“The chants in the Old Trafford dressing room? Maybe they were because we are doing things right this season and they are now focusing on us.

“Sevilla is a real football city, where everybody is either a Betis or Sevilla fan. I think the rivalry is always great, and even though I’m relatively new to the city I really love it and love getting involved.

“It is hard to imagine playing in a derby, it would be incredible! I have never played a derby at a high level previously.”

Sevilla sit only two points above Betis in La Liga in the race for the European places.
