Barcelona are reportedly in talks with Thomas Vermaelen over extending the defender’s contract.
Vermaelen’s current deal has only a year left to run, but Sport claims Barca are ‘very happy’ with the Belgian’s performances this season.
Consequently, the Blaugrana would be looking to prolong his stay, with Coach Ernesto Valverde a big fan of the player and having promoted him to third-choice centre-back.
The 32-year-old struggled with injuries in his first three seasons at Camp Nou but has managed 16 appearances in 2017-18 and has yet to be part of a losing team in La Liga.
