‘Valencia will keep Kondogbia’

Valencia boss Marcelino says ‘I know for a fact’ that his club will keep Geoffrey Kondogbia permanently.

Valencia have a €25m option to buy Kondogbia outright from Inter this summer, but it had been reported that Los Che could not afford the fee.

Nonetheless, Marcelino said after his side’s 3-1 win against Alaves on Saturday, on whether they would buy the French midfielder: “I know it for a fact.”

Goals from Rodrigo Moreno and Simone Zaza, plus Victor Laguardia putting into his own net, fired Valencia 14 points clear for a Champions League place, and Marcelino reflected on a clinical performance from his team.

“The team are looking good. We had an extraordinary first half, or at least a very good one,” added the Coach.

“Their goal caused some doubts defensively, but we recovered by scoring a third.

“We had plenty of chances and moved the ball well, and I’m proud and satisfied with the performance of my players.

“We went six games without winning in January but recovered very well and we’re in very good form.”
