Wissam Ben Yedder scored just two minutes after coming on as a substitute, before following up with a second goal moments later to also ensure Sevilla picked up their first-ever competitive win on English soil.
A calf injury ruled Jesus Navas out of a return to Manchester, where he spent four years with Pep Guardiola's City, while Paul Pogba was only named a substitute, the Frenchman having picked up a knock against Liverpool last weekend.
The tie was finely poised at 0-0 from a fortnight ago, but despite United widely being considered favourites to progress, Sevilla had other ideas, dominating the first half, even if only one of their attempts hit the target.

However, Vincenzo Montella's decision to replace Luis Muriel with Ben Yedder in a like-for-like swap proved inspired as the former Toulouse hitman slotted past David de Gea with only 15 minutes remaining.
He then managed to scramble home a second only two minutes later, not only cancelling out Romelu Lukaku's header in response but ultimately killing off the Red Devils.
