Zaza bemused at lack of starts

Valencia striker Simone Zaza has admitted frustration at his lack of playing time recently: “I must have done something wrong.”

The Italian international replaced the injured Santi Mina to double Los Che’s lead at home to Real Betis on Sunday night, but is bemused by his lack of starts.

Mina has enjoyed a run of starts in the side alongside Rodrigo Moreno up front, while Luciano Vietto arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid in January.

“I was playing every match as a starter but I am not any longer, so I must have done something wrong,” Zaza told Cadena Cope.

“I was very happy to score the goal and it’s not true that I’m unhappy at the club, my ‘shut up’ celebration was a personal joke with my father, you should not read anything into it.

“I knew (Davide) Astori and it was a sad day for everyone who did it, the situation is very sad.”
