Ernesto Valverde has dismissed the ‘mind games’ of Diego Simeone and insisted Atletico Madrid were capable of winning La Liga.
Los Rojiblancos closed the gap at the top to Barcelona to four points, although the Catalan giants have played a game less, with a top-of-the-table clash between the two set for Sunday.
“We all know how Simeone and his teams compete, they always fight to the end regardless of the situation,” Valverde told his pre-match press conference.
“He does not think that the league is over, not for one second – this is obvious and a little bit of mind games. We also know that there is a long way to go in the title race.”
Atleti have won their last eight games in a row across all competitions and have lost just one league game, with Barca still undefeated in La Liga.
