Preview: Sevilla-Atleti

Revenge will be on Atletico Madrid’s minds when they take on Copa del Rey nemeses Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday.

Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella on his players’ ‘magnificent’ preparation and talk of a feud between Torres and Simeone: “The players are fine, they’ve recovered and trained magnificently, so we’re mentally prepared for the match.

“Will I rotate? We’ll be playing against a great team, who are fighting to win La Liga.

“We still have some training left, which I’ll use to assess whether I make any changes to the team. I have until [Sunday].

“Torres and Simeone? I don’t know, I don’t like talking about other people’s issues. Torres is a great player, who’s had some good seasons, and Simeone is a very good Coach.

“We’re focused on ourselves and reaching the game in the best way possible. They have several options for their XI and during the clash, we’ll face Torres one way or another.

“We must think about ourselves and having a great match.”

Atleti boss Diego Simeone on Torres and Yannick Carrasco’s proposed moves to China: ”I can’t say much. Carrasco is negotiating his situation and as for Fernando, I have no news from the club.

“We’ve trained very well and we’re thinking about Sevilla. After the 28th, when the [Chinese] market closes, we’ll assess what can happen.

“I’ve never got into the individual issues of people, who are free to choose where they play their football.

“Whenever it’s based on sporting growth, it makes me happy. Economic growth is more of a personal choice, but football doesn’t surprise me anymore.

“We’re tied to these choices, and each one is free to choose which one they like best.”
