Rakitic: Barca dominated Chelsea

Ivan Rakitic claims Barcelona ‘dominated’ Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League encounter at Stamford Bridge.

The Croatian was part of a visiting side who controlled possession, yet the Blues forged the better opportunities in a clash which ultimately finished 1-1.

“We were the stronger team, in fact we dominated most of the game,” Rakitic told reporters after the match.

“Chelsea managed to create a lot but with very little – having three shots, two off the post and one being a goal.

“They are a good side for closing down and waiting for the mistake of the opponent, but we worked hard and knew what we had to do.

“It is a game which required patience and we managed to put in a complete performance, so we are happy with this.

“We believe in ourselves, we know we don’t need to change for the second leg like them – they will need to attack more.”
