OFFICIAL: Viera joins Beijing Guoan

Forward Jonathan Viera has completed his move to Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan from Las Palmas, it has been confirmed.

A confidentiality clause exists in the deal but the transfer fee is said to have triggered the 28-year-old’s release clause, said to be between €25m and €30m.

However, it is thought the Spanish club will only receive 60% of the fee due to a previous Standard Liege sell-on clause alongside agent fees.

The Gran Canarian was in his second stint at Los Amarillos – his boyhood club – and has made 96 appearances since returning from the Belgian club three seasons ago.

Viera is reportedly set to earn €6m per annum at his new club – a marked increase on his current salary, which is thought to be the main factor behind the move.

The forward underwent a medical with the Far East club on Monday ahead of the deal being confirmed.
