Marcelo: Madrid have nothing to prove

Real Madrid have ‘nothing to prove’ in their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, according to defender Marcelo.

Zinedine Zidane’s side sit fourth in La Liga – 17 points behind leaders Barcelona – and have been eliminated from the Copa del Rey, but have won three of the past four Champions League crowns.

“We have nothing to prove to anyone,” Marcelo told reporters at a pre-match press conference.

“We know what we are capable of and the level we can play at, and these are the type of games that every player wants to be involved in.

“It is always a pleasure for us to play these games at the Bernabeu in front of our fans and they give us further motivation for performing very well, and their support is invaluable.

“Zidane is a great Coach, he has done so much hard work for this team, has shown patience and understanding and we trust in everything that he does and says.”
