Barcelona drew for the second game running as their lead at the top of La Liga was cut to seven points by a frustrating stalemate with Getafe on Sunday.
Barca struggled to create much and were spared by Getafe's poor finishing, although Luis Suarez had a goal disallowed and a late header superbly tipped over by Vicente Guaita.
January signings Yerry Mina and Philippe Coutinho started for the Catalans and Ousmane Dembele was a substitute against Los Azulones, who had former France and Premier League stars Loic Remy and Mathieu Flamini on the bench following their recent moves.
The Blaugrana went into the game having never lost to Geta at Camp Nou, although they were made to work hard for their 2-1 win earlier in the season.
That trend continued on Sunday as Barca had only an offside finish by Suarez from a free kick to show for themselves in the first half, with the linesman correctly raising his flag.
The visitors, on the other hand, looked the more threatening. Marc-Andre ter Stegen kicked an Amath Ndiaye shot away, while top goalscorer Angel Rodriguez turned Mina inside out, before angling a strike inches wide of the far post.
The game threatened to open up after the restart, but Suarez slid his finish just wide from Paco Alcacer’s flick and Guaita tipped away Coutinho’s curler.
Jose Bordalas’ side were then able to exploit the counterattack as Gaku Shibasaki almost caught Ter Stegen off his line and Vitorino Antunes’ rocket of a first-time volley flew just over.
Having kept Geta’s forwards at bay, Mina went on to showcase his ability from set-pieces, climbing highest twice to nod a free kick on target and head inches wide from a corner.
Guaita had been linked with a January move to Crystal Palace, and he proved exactly why there was Premier League interest in him, ending the afternoon with a big hand to push over Suarez’s bullet header.
