Celta Vigo would not be willing to sell defender Jonny Castro for below his €18m release clause, they confirmed on Tuesday.
Comfortable playing either in the heart of right-hand side of the defence, Jonny has racked 200 appearances since graduating through Celta’s academy and was a mainstay of Spain’s successful Under-21 squad.
The January transfer window saw the 23-year-old linked with a number of clubs including Sevilla and Leicester City.
The Vigo-native’s contract at Estadio Balaidos runs until June 2019 but he is thought to be open to a move away, but sporting director Felipe Minambres ruled out a sale during a Tuesday briefing with local media.
