Zidane: La Liga still not over

Zinedine Zidane has pleaded once more that Real Madrid are still in the title race, despite more dropped points against Levante.

Madrid will fall 21 points behind Barcelona with only 16 games left if the League leaders beat Catalan rivals Espanyol on Sunday, but Zidane made it clear he was in no mood to give up.

“Turning point? Their second goal,” the Coach said after the game.

“We controlled the match, especially the first half, and could’ve avoided their second goal, but we didn’t. It’s tough because we’ve dropped two points.

“Bad at defending from counterattacks? This means we have to work harder. We could’ve prevented their second goal after going 2-1 up. It bothers me because we’ve been working [to stop conceding goals like these].

“We knew that our opponents could hurt us on the counter. They had four chances and scored two goals.

“Taking off Ronaldo? I did it because I wanted to bring on another midfielder so we’d have

more strength in the middle.

“It is what it is. We had to make changes and I made them. The League over? We’ll see, but I’ll always say that isn’t.

“There are still plenty of points up for grabs. We controlled the game but dropped these two.

“We needed to win a third game in a row and we didn’t. Inconsistency? I’m not worried. I’m only unhappy with the result as it was in our favour and we still didn’t win.

“We have a game next week and then the Champions League. The result in one word? We’re unhappy.

“My future? I’m going to think about the next game, no more than that.”
