Sergi Samper has returned to Barcelona after Las Palmas cut short his loan spell as he recovers from season-ending surgery.

The 23-year-old has played just two league games this season for Los Amarillos and suffered a fractured fibula and ruptured ankle ligaments against Eibar last month.

“Las Palmas would like to thank Samper for his excellent behaviour and professionalism during his time at the club as well as wishing him luck, both personally and in football,” read a Las Palmas statement.

Samper’s entire stint in Gran Canaria has been disrupted by injuries alongside various different Coaches at the club – Paco Jemez is currently the side’s fourth boss of the season.
