Real Sociedad have completed the signing of Roma defender Hector Moreno to replace Inigo Martinez, who left for Athletic Bilbao.
Martinez joined La Real’s fierce Basque regional rivals this week after his €32m release clause at the Anoeta was triggered, leaving the San Sebastian side scrambling for a replacement.
The 30-year-old only joined the Giallorossi from PSV last summer in a €6m deal, but he only played for the Rome-based club on six occasions, playing just 317 minutes.
Nonetheless, a switch to Spain constitutes a return, the 30-year-old having played 136 games for Espanyol between 2011 and 2015.
Moreno has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Basque club.
