Reyes joins struggling Cordoba

Former Sevilla captain and Spain international Jose Antonio Reyes has joined struggling La Liga 123 outfit Cordoba, it has been confirmed.

The experienced forward reportedly rejected an offer from fellow Andalucian side Cadiz, who currently sit second in Spain’s second tier, to join Los Verdiblancos.

He had previously been close to joining Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua before negotiations broke down, while he also received an offer from Qatari side Al Hilal, report La Vanuardia.

The 34-year-old left Espanyol at the end of last season after one year at the Catalan club, where he netted four goals in 23 appearances.

Reyes enjoyed two stints at his boyhood club Sevilla alongside spells with Arsenal and Benfica abroad, whilst he has also represented Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in a distinguished career.

Cordoba currently sit third from bottom in the Segunda, eight points from safety. They last played in Spain’s top flight in the 2014/15 campaign.
