Celta Vigo made it three successive victories as Iago Aspas scored twice in a pulsating 3-2 victory over Real Betis on Monday.

The former Liverpool striker fired the hosts ahead in the 12th minute after he seized upon an error from Javi Gracia, before Maxi Gomez headed home a second on the hour mark.

Sergio Leon gave Betis hope as he slotted into an empty net after Celta goalkeeper Ruben Blanco failed to deal with Antonio Barragan’s initial cross.

However, the visitors’ hopes of a comeback were soon ended as an error from Andres Guardado allowed the Galicians to break and add a third through Aspas.

There was still time for the Andalusians to pull one back as Guardado converted a late penalty after Joaquin was felled inside the area, but it was too little too late.
