Barca’s Kaptoum joins Betis

Real Betis have reached an agreement with Cameroonian midfielder Wilfrid Kaptoum after he cancelled his contract with Barcelona, say reports.

The 21-year-old will link up with Los Verdiblancos this month, according to Marca, immediately playing for their reserve side with the aim of promoting him to the first-team.

The Cameroonian played twice for the Blaugrana’s first team during the 2015/16 campaign in the Copa Del Rey, and scored the equaliser in the semi-final 1-1 draw away to Valencia.

That goal helped Barca reach a new club record of 29 matches unbeaten – exceeding the previous record set by Pep Guardiola’s side.

Whilst the midfielder appeared destined to play more often for the Catalan giants, a series of muscular injuries ruled him out for the entirety of the 2016/17 campaign.

He will join Betis on a free transfer with no buyback clause included.
