Sevilla steal Layun from Betis – report

FC Porto defender Miguel Layun is set to sign for Sevilla after weeks of negotiations with Real Betis, according to reports in Spain.

The Mexican international is reported by ABC de Sevilla as being in Seville on Monday but to sign for Los Rojiblancos, rather than his expected move to Betis.

The right-back has fallen out of favour at FC Porto, making only two starts for the Portuguese league leaders this season.

The 29-year-old had also been linked with a move to Alaves, while Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruna had reportedly previously held an interest.

Layun spent twelve months in England with Watford before moving to Porto in 2016 and is said to be available on an affordable permanent transfer or as a loan deal.

He is now expected to provide competition with Sebastien Corchia for the full-back slot at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.
