Sevilla’s loan deal for Swansea City’s Roque Mesa has been held up by Las Palmas wanting to use their ‘first option’ on the midfielder, say reports.
Mesa joined the Swans from Los Amarillos in the summer for €12.5m and relations between the two La Liga clubs are frayed following Vitolo’s move in summer.
The Andalucians had announced the Spain international winger had signed a new contract, before he joined Las Palmas on a loan deal in a move which saw him join Atletico Madrid permanently.
Now, ABC de Sevilla report the Gran Canarian club are opting to frustrate Sevilla on Mesa’s deal even though they cannot afford a transfer fee and are aware the player does not wish to return to the club.
The 28-year-old has agreed terms with Los Rojiblancos but a deal cannot go through until Las Palmas supposed ‘interest’ ends, with the report indicating this tactic will only temporarily delay a deal.
