Cazorla: I face another year out

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has admitted he faces another year on the sidelines after undergoing a tenth surgery on an Achilles injury.

The Arsenal playmaker has already sat out over a year of action after suffering the injury in a Champions League match and revealed in November how doctors had told him he would be lucky to walk again.

“I’ve often wondered if it was worth continuing and there have been times when I thought it would be easier to throw in the towel,” Cazorla told RTVE.

“I am still hopeful that I can return to play at the top level again, but I underwent my tenth and most recent surgery seven weeks ago.

“The first surgery was a risk because I too many corticosteroids and the skin deteriorated, the infection ate my tendon after my skin graft.”

On Friday, Wenger indicated Arsenal would be willing to offer the 33-year-old a new deal at the end of the campaign, when his current contract expires.
