Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone believes the club faces more intense scrutiny because of their elevated position in the Spanish game.
The Argentine has faced criticism this week following a Copa del Rey first leg defeat to Sevilla and La Liga draw at home to Girona.
“It’s now very easy to criticise us because of our position and growth,” Simeone told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“We are now a very important club and as such we face continuous criticism and there will constantly be news and stories around the club, whether they are positive or negative.
“We were criticised for substituting off Diego Costa on Saturday, yet nobody knew he was injured – that is because we did not win.
“For the Copa del Rey, I am always optimistic about our chances and knowing the players we have, I know our team is fine.
“We were impressive against Sevilla and Girona but it was the details of the games which meant we did not win, and we must analyse these details closely.”
