Malaga boss happy with start

Malaga Coach Jose Gonzalez is hopeful his side can build upon Monday night’s draw at Eibar to fight their way off the foot of the table.

The Andalucian club remain at the foot of the table after the tactician’s first match in charge, but the performance gave him reason to be hopeful.

“This was an important game for us and it is a starting point for change for this team,” Gonzalez told the club’s official media.

“We must take encouragement from the performance more than the point itself and our side was compact, and at the end of the game the players looked exhausted – as they should.

“There are many aspects of our game which we must improve upon but the spirit in training is excellent and we must continue to work hard.

“We could have won tonight or we could have lost, so a draw is probably the fair result and we must now seek to build upon it.

“Of course I would have been happier by winning all three points, but I must also admit we could have lost.”
