Sevilla negotiating for Vidal

Sevilla remain in pole position to sign former defender Aleix Vidal from Barcelona but the two clubs continue to negotiate on a fee, say reports.

The Catalan club are reportedly demanding a total of €12m for the full-back, while Sevilla’s offer is an initial €6m with a further €2m should they qualify for the Champions League.

Sevilla Info follows up on a report in El Mundo Deportivo citing the deal is close and both clubs appear to be happy to sanction a loan deal with an obligation to buy in summer.

The 28-year-old initially joined the Blaugrana from the Andalucian club in the summer of 2015 for a €28m which included add-ons.

However, Vidal has failed to make an impact, starting only 14 La Liga games and has played second fiddle to Dani Alves, Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo.

A report in Seville’s El Correo states the full-back – a converted winger – only wants to join Sevilla.

Roma, Inter and Valencia had also been linked to the former Almeria player but a return to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan now appears to be close.
