Lega’s late Alaves comeback

Two late goals rescued a point for Leganes at 10-man Alaves in an entertaining clash at Mendizorroza on Sunday.

Munir El-Haddadi and Alfonso Pedraza had both found the net for the in-form hosts, who were hoping to put further ground between themselves and the bottom three.

However, Lega were given fresh hope with 15 minutes left on the clock, when Gabriel halved the deficit by converting from the penalty spot.

Defender Rodrigo Ely was then dismissed for the home side with three minutes remaining, but their hopes of hanging on for a valuable win were destroyed deep into stoppage time.

Joseba Zaldua capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot home from close range and rescue a point for Asier Garitano’s men.
