Barcelona have confirmed that defender Thomas Vermaelen suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 5-0 win at Real Betis.
Vermaelen pulled up towards end of the first half at Benito Villamarin, and Barca tweeted after the game that the Belgian would undergo more tests on Monday “to find out the exact extent of the injury.”
The 32-year-old had been enjoying the best run of his Blaugrana career as he was starting his 13th straight game, capitalising on injuries to Javier Mascherano and Samuel Umtiti.
Nonetheless, Barca remain unbeaten in the 19 Liga games that they have played with Vermaelen in defence.
