Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez has hinted that he wants to represent Spain over France. “It’s in the hands of lawyers…”
Lucas was born in France and has played for his country up until Under-21 level, but the 22-year-old has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of brother Theo and switch to Spain in time for the World Cup.
“I’m French, I have a French passport,” he said after Atleti’s 1-1 draw with Girona on Saturday.
“We’re seeing certain things and it’s in the hands of the lawyers. I’m calm. Have I made a decision? Yes, but I won’t tell you.
“I’ve always played for France. It’s in the hands of lawyers, but Deschamps knows what I want.”
