Leganes president Victoria Pavon believes the club should prioritise their league clash with Real Madrid over their Copa tie.

The two Madrid-based sides will go head-to-head in the Copa del Rey quarter finals but Lega have an outstanding league fixture against Zinedine Zidane’s side.

“The league is our real concern and our primary objective – to survive,” Pavon told an interview with Marca.

“Right now we are focused on winning more points in La Liga as we do not have so many at the moment, so that would be a priority against Real Madrid compared to the Copa tie.

“However, when you play Real Madrid it is always a massive occasion and you always want to draw them in the Copa, in case you can cause an upset.

“But it will be difficult, we can acknowledge that. A one-off game would have been possible but over two legs and with the return at the Bernabeu…it will be extremely difficult.

“Madrid are one of the best teams in the world and we have no illusions.”
