Aspas investigation continues

There is an ongoing investigation into Levante’s Jefferson Lerma accusation of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas making racist remarks, say reports.

Gol TV’s El Dia Despues (The Day Before) programme showed video footage of clashes between the two during Celta’s 1-0 win at the Valencia-based club on Sunday.

Lerma fouled the Spain international on the hour mark which appeared to spark an angry confrontation between the two, but the cameras failed to pick up anything which was said.

Later on in the game, footage did catch Aspas say to the Colombian ‘muerto de hambre’ – in translation, stating that the Levante player was starving.

The former Liverpool striker distanced himself from the allegations after the match by stating “what is said on the pitch stays on the pitch,” in response to Lerma’s claims.
