Substitute Ruben Castro netted a late winning penalty for Real Betis against Leganes, in his first appearance for the club in eight months.
The club’s all-time leading goalscorer had been enjoying a loan stint in China before being recalled by Los Verdiblancos, for whom he proved decisive once more.
Goals from Cristian Tello and Joaquin had put a dominant Betis in control of the game, but the visitors fought back through Gerard Gumbau and Javi Eraso.
The home side had over three-quarters of possession and the lion’s share of clear-cut chances, before Castro was introduced with twenty minutes remaining.
The 36-year-old proved decisive after a handball in the penalty area, with the goal propelling Quique Setien’s side up to seventh in the standings.
